Thinking outside the box

Over the last couple of months, I've had two different clients that got very creative with the fabrics that they chose for their projects. Shelly had a hard time finding just the perfect shade of grey at the price point they needed; so after looking around they found a denim fabric that was the grey they wanted... on the wrong side! So that is what we did, we used the wrong side of the fabric for the slipcover they wanted in the color they needed. Not every fabric will allow for this trickery but this one worked perfectly.

My second Client, Sally, had a small sofa that she wanted slipcovered in white textured fabric... quilts were on her mind. She had a couple of smaller mismatched quilts, but was not sure she liked the seashell design on them so  she went a-hunting (did I mention that Sally is a shopper?).  Well it took her about 4 days of Covid shopping but she found 2 queen-sized thinner quilted covers at target  I think she said she paid $50.00 for the pair of them and voila!  It was enough to make a slipcover for her sofa.
Again, not every quilt is appropriate for a slipcover and certain things must be sacrificed like Piping (too thick) and I don't think we could have done a skirt, but she was thrilled with how it turned out and now she has another lovely slipcover.
